Cathodic corrosion protection (CCP)
The principle of cathodic corrosion protection (CCP) aims to lower the electrical potential by polarizing the reinforcement in order to reduce the speed of corrosion processes on the reinforcement to a technically negligible value.CCP can be used either as a preventive measure or to restore the corrosion protection of reinforced concrete structures with an increased chloride content, even in deeper zones, as well as in the case of chloride-induced corrosion of the steel reinforcement that has already occurred.
The use of CCP to ensure the durability of the reinforcement means that massive interventions in the building fabric can be avoided, as this method does not involve the removal of contaminated concrete. The chlorides remaining in the concrete do not pose a risk to the reinforcement, even if moisture gets in later.
